Scared ME!!

There's a sign at a gun shop here that says" this property is protected by a gun 5 days a week, you guess which days"
Id say, high voltage, plug something into a wall and run the power wire to the padlock and a kill switch inside the house. Someone touches that door handle, they get a rude awakening.

Sucks that happened RJ.
I grew up in a fairly remote area, where we never locked our doors and left the car keys in all of the cars at night (my dad always started them all up when he got up in the morning during the winter so that everyone's car was warmed up by the time they left).
A few years ago, almost everyone's car and/or shed was broken into (well, maybe broken into isn't the right word...but someone stole stuff from about 15 or so different households). It's still depressing to me that everyone in that area has to keep everything locked up nowadays.
I second the recommendation for a reliable pump action shotgun as well. Even if you're not a gun type, you're better safe than sorry. They are generally inexpensive, and very easy to use. Just be sure that you familiarize yourself with using it, and make sure that it is kept secured (yet accessible to you).
At least that will hold you over until you can get the sharks with lazers on order.

I got to tell ya RJ, even if you have a 12 gauge pump shotgun like the Remington 870, and keep it NOT loaded, just the sound of racking that pump mechanism is enough to scare just about anyone. Problem is you have to catch them 1st.
I think you need a motion sensing alarm inside, with the alarm bell in your house. Of course you can spend more and more on a security system, but how much you got in cars in that barn???
Sorry you have to go through this RJ.
