Is It The Right Time?

I'm about 900 miles closer than Tood, RJ!! For the right price, the Monte will suddenly find itself for sale too!
I remember several occasions where you talk about that Dodge giving you trouble, but it seems to keep on ticking! It would depend on the price you wnat to pay as to what you need to do. If you can find a fair car for a fair price, then it's probably worth it. It seems like the first time osmething major goes wrong on a car like that, everything else falls with it.

The guys on AllPar.com say not to listen to the local Mopar dealer. That the 3.0 V6 engine is not an interference engine. A guy I work with who was once a mechanic at a Mopar dealer agrees they are interference engines. He said buy enough parts to get the engine running again and go from there. If there's internal damage a compression test would reveal them.
I wonder why the engine got hot in the first place? Did the water pump go out and this caused the timing belt to go? Since the timing belt runs the water pump it could also be the reverse is true. the belt was ready to snap and that's why the engine got hot. The water pump wasn't spinning like it needed to.
Up till now the '93 has been a very good car for me.
The '94 on the other hand has needed a new transmission twice since I bought it in january, 2001. The last time to the tune of $2700. The car only cost me $2600 when I bought it.
I'd rather have a Z34 5th gen Monte but a decent LS isn't out of the question.

Duane, I wouldn't mind owning your Monte. Is it getting too crowded around your place with all the Furds you've drug home? lol

Well RJ, I think I'd have to ask more than you'd want to pay for a winter beater but name me a price and we'll see!
The Monte doesn't really need to go, but if somebody offered me a really good amount (probably a little more than the car is worth ), then it would be gone!

Replacing one of my daily drivers.
I'd rather have car with the 3.8 under the hood. But it's not written in stone if a nice LS came along.
Duane, I'm sure you want more cash for your Monte then I can afford. Not that I wouldn't like to own the car. I know it's a nice example.
As for looking for a winter beater. It's more like looking for a car to drive every day M-F so the Montes can stay weekend toys.
