What I was jokingly referring to is that out of 43 presidents only 1 has ever been Catholic and when you consider that 26% of Americans are Catholic there is something wrong with this picture. I do agree with the fact that he was pushing hard for civil rights and had nothing to do with the fact that he was Catholic.

This can go on with the Obama forcast as well. He will be the only 1 black president out of 43. What will the African Americans say if he gets shot. "Sure we get our guy in and see what happens"

the answer to your question is no, else the speaker of the house when Nixon resigned would have been in office because the man he ran with, Spiro Agnew, resigned and Gerald Ford became the VP. he was the only president to be elected by no one but the congress. so for 04's little theory to work, the Prez, VP, and Speaker would ahve to be killed within a week so no one has the time to appoint a VP.

 

Been too long since government class and back then it was BORING (teacher spoke in mono-tone even when angry).
I had even heard on the news backwhen Pelosi first became Speaker, that she would be in line for VP if something happened to Cheney.
Either way, we do NOT need her in that position, bad enough where she is now.

 

in my government class (high school), we watched an episode of the west wing wherea similar situation happened. the VP resigned, but hte President had not made a new nominee yet. when his daughter gets kidnappped, he feels that he would make an irrational decision, putting emotions over his own good judgment, and resigns. the Speaker of the House is sworn in for hte last scene of the episode. the thing that made them really not want to do this: the speaker was a republican where as the West Wing presidency is democrat.

 

Ok, this may or may not be something to think about when voting for Obama. I really don't think he is a natural born US citizen. In a interview with his mother, she says they were in Kenya at the time of his birth. Also why won't he give up his birth certificate, and medical records to prove this? Also, this tape that the LA times has, come on let us see the tape, I want to know whats really up with this guy. He is Islamic and isn't that what we are having so many problems with now?
