OPEC refuses to increase oil production, the smug bastards!
theseminal.com — For a little while, OPEC will make bank on the spike in oil prices, sending Americans a powerful reminder that we are still beholden to foreign countries for our energy.[:@] Let the smiling face of OPEC President Chakib Khelil be the newest advertisement for creating and investing in an alternative, renewable, and totally homegrown energy supply.

$4-a-gallon gas? Predictions surprise's Bush
seattletimes.nwsource.com — The price of gas will continue to rise in the summer months, although Bush seems surprised by the $4- $5 a-gallon prediction of experts.

Today, President Bush is meeting with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for lunch at the White House, where he is expected to endorse his presidential bid. He was so excited for the meeting that, while waiting for McCain to arrive, Bush stood outside on the North Portico and entertained the press corps by tap dancing, doing a goofy walk, winking, and smiling. Watch it: Yeap, that's our Prez : )

MSNBC’s Tameron Hall was so distracted by Bush’s antics that she interrupted her guest to say, “I’m sorry, this alert just in. The President was tap dancing. … I don’t think I’ve seen him in a better mood.â€
He doesn't have to worry about `gas...he's a Rich Texan
UPDATE: Michael D. Shear of the Washington Post has more on Bush’s dancing and maybe smoking something ?

I heard on the radio yesterday Bush commented unless OPEC wants it's largest customer to look for alternatives and possibly demand to fall they need to re-consider their decision.

As for increasing oil production, why should they? At $104 per barrel today, compared to about a year ago when it was $50-$60 per barrel. They're making money hand over fist. And the threat about getting oil elsewhere? It was reported on CNN and other sources, that the U.S. makes up 50% of the world's demand for oil. There's no way the U.S. can totally boycott the oil supply in the middle east.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to tell all the middle east countries to take their oil and shove it. But until we (the world) come up with a viable replacement fuel, we are going to be dependant on middle eastern oil.

Well, the Mini Cooper helps. I still have to put premium in it but it only has a 13 gallon gas tank. With my type of bad rush hour city driving, I can go 2 weeks on one tank of gas. I still think my Monte with the 3800 gets pretty good gas mileage too.

I say lets jack up the cost of all of our exports to these countries and see how they like getting screwed over. $3/gal for milk... not anymore. Let's charge them $10/gal for milk. Wouldn't be too long before they bitch about getting screwed over. Milk is just an example of course.

Wouldn't work. You can get the milk from other countries. Where are we going to get oil from? There are other places but they still can't fill our demand. We would need to drill in Alaska which I am really against but something we need to do.
