Ok so its a ways away but I've been looking for tires for my truck I want to go with 285s since a few of my friends are running those on their stock height trucks my ? is my tires are currently 235/70r16s so would 285/75r16s work?

You'll be going from about 29" tall to 33" and about two inches wider. Speedometer difference will be noticeable and gear ratio will change a bit. What pickup are they going on? Bigger tires will take more to get moving.

They should fit though, unless you happen to have really skinny wheels.

These tire size calculators are pretty helpful:

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

As far is if it'll fit.. I don't know. It's quite a bit wider. Also your speedo is going to be off about 8 MPH at 60 MPH.
