This is 90% the same as the 3100 I've enjoyed and romped on for years. The difference, newer and they widened the cylinders and air intake. To be honest, i used to HATE the 3100/3400 engines and vowed to not have anything to do with them once my '94 Grand Am was done. But after how well the 3100's have treated me and my wife, those are TOUGH engines!! AND they LAST!! Just take care of them. This GAGT should be the same. I know I will make a friend sad, he wanted my '94 to get 250K on it before I got rid of it. Leprechaun93, just take car of her, regular oil changes, pay attention to signs of LIM failure, outside of that, your 3100 should do well!!
BTW - We sold my wife's '94 Grand Am in January of 2010 with 170K and still running GREAT!
Sorry, the stripes were a suggestion Space was making to me. This GAGT is ALL black.
Only mods I have planned:
- K&N drop in air filter
- Swap the L67 coils from the '94 to the '02
- Upgrade to the factory MP3 radio
- Remove the aftermarket keyless entry (that doesn't seem to work). I may go remote start since I have a SPARE laying around (may just need to get the Passlock bypass)
Repairs/Maintenance:
- Change plugs and wires
- Replace missing prop rod
- Replace missing driver side fender skirt
- Fix passenger side door/fender rub
- Re-scan codes (believe it has a oil sensor that needs replaced)
- Replace blown out signal bulb
- Attempt to resurface OR replace the fogged up front headlights
- CLEAN THE CRAP OUT OF THIS THING!
Sounds good, thats what i try to do anyway, keep on top of maintenance and pay attention to anything that might be going wrong. Good luck with the new GAGT
