HI-RES GALLERY11: VF Holden Commodore SS V design buck < click 4 pic's<!-- social --> Holden’s new VF Commodore, the Australian sedan that will form the basis of the upcoming 2014 Chevrolet SS, was revealed overnight, though so far we’ve only been treated with the upmarket Calais V model.
Holden is saving its performance variant, the SS V, until later in the week so that the reveal coincides with the launch of the Chevy SS on February 16 at an event preceding the Daytona 500.
The SS V and the Chevy SS are expected to be similar, though images of some design bucks for the SS V suggest the two cars could in fact be identical.
The styling treatment on the design bucks looks the same as that on the Chevy SS NASCAR Sprint Cup race car unveiled back in November.
Common elements include the shape of the grille and the trapezoidal air dam; the air intakes, with their horizontal daytime running lights and round fog lights; the vertical fender vents; and the rear diffuser with its horizontal reflectors located just above the exhaust pipes.
We can’t be sure until the car is finally unveiled, though this very well could be our first look at the 2014 Chevy SS.
Another mystery is just what engine Chevy has selected for its new rear-wheel-drive sports sedan. One possibility is the 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 that will power the 2014 Corvette Stingray, although it’s also possible--and more likely--that Chevy will go with the 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 from the Camaro SS. That’s still 426 horsepower worth of grunt, but hopefully there will be more powerful options down the line, like the supercharged LSA from the Camaro ZL1.
Stay tuned for an update.

We had a thread on the "New 8th Gen Monte Carlo" a while back. It was about taking a Holden 2 door coupe and re-badging it as a Monte Carlo and bringing it over here. I actually contacted Holden about this to see what the chances were. Now I know the new Chevy Police Pursuit Vehicle, as I believe it's called, will be the NEXT Chevy SS, but I still like the Holden 2 dr coupe as the next MC SS

Heres a link to holdens website about the new commodore. Not bad looking imo. Maybe chevy will add a few aggresive styling cues and i think it would be a good car. I'd definetly go check one out at the dealer

Wow... I like the look of that car in 'Space's first pictures a whole lot less than I thought I would. But it does look like the NASCAR version, so that's probably it. That 2-door Commodore looks good. I can't believe I'm saying this, but most of VW and Toyota's line-up looks better than that ill proportioned crapmobile. Visually, I can't see a single likable feature

That pic looks better 'Space, but it does look more Malibu-ish. Seriously, this SS is shaping up to be the ugliest in the Chevy fleet. This SS will either be redesigned within a year or it will quickly be out of production. A performance sedan will be a tough sell anyways, even if it isn't so ugly...

There were so many positive comments about the Pontiac G8 when Pontiac was eliminated. I think if GM made the Chevy SS look like the Pontiac G8, but with the Chevy bowtie instead of the Pontiac arrowhead, it may get a much better response.
