Just a little rant
So Saturday we get a customer in at the end of the day that wants a second opinion on a concern. Happens all the time no big deal. So I talk with him for a few minutes. The other dealer told him his spark plugs were oil soaked an they recommend a new/used enginehis complaint was he has a little blue/white smoke only on start up. Car runs fine an has 194k on a 2AZ in a 04 Camry.
I went for a ride with the customer car drove fine. Today I looked the car over. Pulled the plugs out an they're not oil soaked at all. A little wear that's it. I bore scope it good compression test it good. There is nothing wrong with this guys car what so ever. Everything is just your typical wear an old age on the car.
The thing that burns me is that the other dealer is telling him that he needs an engine. It's like they didn't even look at the car at all just you need a new engine
It's thing like this that make my job difficult. Gives all the honest people in this line of work a bad name.
Ok end of rant. Sorry these type of things just p1$$ me off

It's either the person does not know what they are really doing or just wants to sell you on something.
Sad part is, there is a sucker born every day. Someone buys into bad information all the time. It's good that person took it for a second opinion. Better yet, someone who cared to do an HONEST job. Hopefully your efforts made a future customer.

I know the engine quite well I've rebuilt a dozen or so of them. They do burn a little oil. But to just give him a vague answer is bs. The guy showed me the paper work they gave. "Spark plugs oil soaked need engine" that's word for word
