I had the power steering hose failure as well. Seems that it cracks in cold weather. 20 minute fix at the dealer. No huge deal.

Kudos on getting the word out man..

Have you had a bad experiencewith the drivetrain?
I can understand your thoughts about the drivetrain, but really, for what the cars are handling stock, why would they put something that's good up to 500 HP in it? I mean the ratings should be for prolonged wear and tear, not just onemoment of the full power of the engine. If an enthusiast/ownerseriously upgrades the engine to levels beyond stock then one can only expect that stuff is going to break. I would consider it unreasonable to think that my car rated at 242 HP at the crank should support 300 + HP without some drivetrain upgrades.
To answer the first question. YES! The "ABUSE" system kicks in and shuts the fuel system off if you accellerate hard into or out of a turn -- Besides being EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, it is a SIGN of VERY POOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN when you make a High Performance Car that IS NOT DESIGNED to handle its 303-HP. Granted, my car pushing more than 303-HP, but the design should handle at least 325-HP to allow for a margin of error. OUR CARS (V8 Owners)CANNOT handle its normal HP. SAD... VERY, VERY SAD!!!

They could have easily upgraded the raw materials to handle at 550-HP for a few extra dollars per car... BUT NO... They opt'd for a cheap "ABUSE" chip that shuts the fuel system off and that could cause a ROLL-OVER ACCIDENT -- WORSE YET... They opt'd to do this over designing the drive system to handle the 303-HP they put into the car. NOW tell me HOW BRILLANTE GM IS.... If they didn't want us to have it, why would the put it into your car? and if they wanted us to have it, then why didn't they design the drive system to adequately handle it?

Is it STUPIDITY or GREED? No need to answer that, we already Know it was GREED ! Because they put the "ABUSE" in to solve their problem, and figure they could fight any lawsuit caused by the DEATH of someone KILLED by the ABUSE system.

So, when I go around a turn full throttle, and even if TC is off, it stutters because the car shuts off the fuel? Because it's never done that to me like while going up an on-ramp, but it's done that to me several times like if I was trying to burn out while starting off in a turn

I always thought that was just a badly designed differential moving power to the outside wheel getting the traction.

To asnwer your first question, Yes, and I have pushed my car to find its total capacity and it with the V8s, it not only does it from a dry run, but any hard accelleration with the wheels turned. It has shut the fuel off long enough I felt the car lift - which is why I know it could cause a roll-over -while going onto an expressway, on one of the circle ramps.

Now to address your last statement, IT IS A BAD DESIGN - reason for the ABUSE system.I did not know the problem went down to the 240-HP V6, that makes it JUNK DESIGNING!!!

I'm tellingya... I love my car, but I learning to hate it more and more each day!!!

Craig,
Are ALL '06/07 Montes like this? Or just the SS models?

I've never had this happen in my car yet but would like to know if this is possible in the event it does happen in my car?

Heck... I thought it was just the SS models... But Flynhgr is stating it has happened to his 3.9 V6... so I don't know....

06 3.5's had it too! Hell I couldnt even do a burnout with the car. It would refuse even with the traction contol off. Its probably designed to protect chevy from having to replace trannies..

Still I think the point is, you pay for x amount of HP and you should be allowed to use all of it without your car telling you otherwise.
