I agree with everyone else: work on getting that lawyer! I agree not all judges are simpathetic to honesty (so don't be) and some will make an example of you if they think they won't be challanged by you.

Wow. That's one long wait for a court date!

My advice is to get a lawyer if you can afford it. But even if you go with the public defender, go with his/her advice. Don't out right lie to the court either. Only makes things worse if they catch you in your lie.

He beat a cop in a street race. Cop was driving a Solara, and was jealous of Dave's car.

But that's just a guess. LOL.

damn yall replied pretty fast, thanks for all the tips, at this point i can barely afford the gas to go to court, me and my dad arent employed at the moment, and because of his health i need to be at home just in case he gets worse, so jail would be nice to avoid. I'd like to explain that to the judge but i doubt it will help. When i get there im gonna talk to the DA try to figure out what im lookin at then go from there. A freind of mine said my best bet would be to lie my *** off and say the guy i was "racing" threw sumtin out of his car and it nearly hit me, and i tried to flag him down. But i dont really wanna **** that dude over like that. Fines, suspension, community service and defensive driving i can handle, but because of our situation i cant afford to go to jail. a year ago i woulda sat out all the fines lol

Don't Lie to the court, whatever you do. Not only will it bite you in the a$$, the bad karma will get you as well. If you truly can not get a lawyer then talk to the Public Defender and see what options you have. Like others said don't lie, but also don't offer them ammunition against you.
