Thanks Space. Yeah I've been doing that most of my life on my own. Can't trust some of these places. A friend of mine G/F took her car to wal*mark to get her's done. it wasn't a yr old Mustang. She picked it up and took off for home. Got on the freeway!!!!! The hood flew up and back into her windshield. Almost cost her her life... Wal* mart paid for every bit of it to get fixed. And they fired the guy who changed the oil. He was the manager in auto...

We have a lift but we don't use it for oil changes. I just jack the car up. I used to go once a year to get my 03's oil changed at the dealership (I only put about 1000 miles on it a year) but they charge WAY too much for just plain conventional oil. So I change the oil in both of my cars.

i havent changed my own in almost 5 years now. the only reason is when i had my 2003 monte it had a warranty on it from a dealer. If i got all my regular maintence done there then i had lifetime powertrain warranty

I had my first change on my 2007 when i got the oil pan gasket replaced so maybe i will do it myself next time

I take it to a place. It's less hassle.
The apt. company sucks, and they'll give you a letter if they see you doing anything to your car. Only changing flat tires is acceptable.
They allow me to go in their garage, so I see what's going on.

^^^That's what I need. I change my own more for the price difference. It costs me about $20 to do it when Mobil 1 Full Synthetic is on sale with a filter. About $40 to have someone else do it.

I am looking into purchasing a lift myself. What would be considered a reasonable price point to consider? I have seen everything from $1,000 to $15,000.

EDIT: I took too long to type my reply. Now this is a double post I guess...
