Default how has your life changed daily because of 9-11?

What happened on 9-11 was horrible and senseless. Because of what happened, has it impacted your lives daily?
For me I have additional security check points at work. Security personnel are move visible and everyone is more alert and inquisitive about where and what I do back stage. More areas require additional steps for access.
I used to live in Milton Vermont which is just about 40 miles south of the Canadian border in northwest Vermont. Living that close to the border going to Canada wasn't much different than driving to the store and it was very easy to forget that Canada and the United States are two different countries. Going across the border on the roads that had a border crossing wasn't much different than going thru a toll booth on many of the toll roads in central Florida. I have been told that crossing the border is longer that easy. Without a passport you are not going anywhere. For Canadians coming south and Americans going north a passport was not needed.

I live in NYC, travel over it's bridges and under it's tunnels across it's ferries, and on it's subways and buses...so security on certain days in certain areas it is tight, other days not so much...somedays my ferry was followed by the coast guard boat with a big gun on the front

Every so often while traveling, I ponder if someone on my bus may do harm to the bus while traveling over a bridge or threw a tunnel....But it is something you have to quickly put out of you're mind or you can drive yourself cravy...

On a more personel note, I remember when I was young my parents would take me to JFK Airport, we were able to go to to the roof of a parking garage right by were the planes use to taxi out to and from the runway (Wayyyy before 9/11 when there was no security to get to this parking garage). I use to love hearing the engines of the planes, especially the big ones... We also lived in a house were the planes would fly directly over us...the planes were a bit high up, but still in the path and I never thought twice at looking up.

Now-a-days after hearing the roar of the jet engines from the second plane, I look up more in fear when-ever I hear that sound..it is a sound I will never forget.....

Changes were not all bad though, I have done more sporadic things since then, realizing life is to short, doing somethings even if they made no sense at all just to do...for instance, on September 10th 2005 I walked into a dealership and walked out with a GTO...ussually buying a car would be a big debate for me (As much as it is for anyone) but that day I said life was to short and just went for it....

I will say this, as dangerous as it could be living in New York...I would not want to live anywhere else in the world...

Thank you Miller for what you do. My son also serves. He is in the US Navy.

Hello Joe; I visited New York City in 1976 on my way to Washington D.C.. I was 14 at the time and remember we stayed one night at a friends house on Staten Island. Unfortunately we didn't have time to see much of the city but do remember getting lost on one of the highways that circles the city. Passed the same area three time on that road road in what seemed like 90 minutes. The first time we passed it I saw on the side of the highway one car part stripped, second pass the first car was all stripped . Third pass the first car was sitting on its roof and there was a second car part stripped. Some of the strange things one remembers.
I hear people talk about the city and it seems to be a love-hate relationship. I understand it is a very exciting place to live because of everything there is to do there but it is too much city for me. It is odd that I would feel that way because when I lived in Massachusetts I was born and raised in Lowell which is a fairly good sized city in its own right and I love Boston. I guess it is what you know. I would love to visit the city again but could never see myself living there. I could never get used to having to use public transit and wall to wall people.
