How did you come across your Monte?
Myself an the girlfriend were looking for a second car, the first being a Pontiac Montana van that we have to have to transport my disabled father 45 mins each way to the V.A. Hospital twice a week. Need the space for his powerchair an for him to be helped into an out of easily.
We needed a second vehicle to kinda defer miles on, an of course something fun to drive! Something "just for us".
I'd had an '86 Monte before an loved it, an one night whilst I was at work, the g/f spotted a "red car behind the gas station" as she put it. That evening when she picked me up, we went to have a look. No price on it.
Next day we went early to the garage an asked about it. Originally, the shop owner wanted $2,500 for it, but got it talked down to $1,800. With having no issues other than higher miles (173k), it was a no-brainer. After having it looked at extensively by myself (shade-tree mechanic), an a dealer, it was pronounced fit to be our own, an we had the title notorized 10 mins later an brought her home. I'm not a huge fan of the Torch Red (attracts far too many cops!), but for what we paid for, we would not have gotten close to such a clean issue-free car, nor had gotten more car for the money.

Well I owned an 03 Monte before this one now. It started to rust out in the famous rear fender well spot anyhow there was a lot of little things starting to pile up on it too. So I decided one day I would put it up for sale on craigslist. After many people showed interest I found out I wasn't going to get nearly what I wanted so I decided I would try my luck at trading it in. I wasn't even sure what I wanted yet but always thought in the back of my head I wanted the V8 Monte. So I started looking around the state for one and test drove a couple of 2006 Monte SS and they didnt quite fit the bill. I had decided on getting a red or blue one if I could find one. I went to a dealership and they had 3 red ones on the lot. The first one I looked at was the one I bought. It was in between two 2006 Montes that were victory red/silver. I loved the look of the precision red it was darker and deeper and the car was nearly flawless so I ended up trading my old monte in for 1500 more than trade value and drove The Red Devil home.
I was looking for a Camaro or a Mustang, couldn't find anything decent in my price range so i was getting desperate and considering a few BMW's and even some hondas (dear God how i had fallen low). I had scrolled through craigs list for days and was going back over my favorites when red jumped out of the screen. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, told the guy the day I first saw it she was my car, had her checked and bought her 2 days later. I love this car!
