Ok latest update, the new cover that the mechanic put over the vent/drain. When he put the hose clamp on it crushed what it was covering because it was so rusty causing it to leak again. New fix was to take out the old part and just run a screw in there with some teflon tape on it. So now hopefully its fixed

The leak is back and worse than ever. Was out driving around today and noticed a gas smell, got home and looked under the car to see a steady stream of gas pouring out. Moved the car to the lawn and put a catch can under it. Looks like the leak is at the same place as before. Guess it didn't get sealed up too good

Giving this a bump, the leak appears to be from the fuel sending unit. The garage quoted me at $498 parts and installed. Quite expensive, does anything think i could get the fuel sending unit replaced myself? Order the part online and do it. The part below looks to be what i need, and if it is and it can be done thats one heck of a savings.

It all depends on your access to the pump

On The Monte, you just need to use the access cover from inside the car and you are right into the top of the pump. Remove any pressure from the system, disconnect the battery, and it's a simple disconnect and reconnect.

So if you have easy access to the pump, without having to get the car on a lift and drop the tank, you should have no problem doing this yourself.

Well i can look right at the sending unit, so presumably access is not an issue. Its on the side of the tank.
