Default Gas leak and possible muffler leak

I don't know a whole lot about cars, but I own a 2004 2 door Monte Carlo SS with about 75,000 miles on it. Anyway, lately while I've been drivin' around, I notice that after a while, it starts making a noise, kinda like the classic sound a car makes when there's a problem with the muffler. Also, I noticed like a week and a half later that fuel is leaking ever so slightly. My fuel meter goes down a little bit faster than normal and I can smell fuel when I step out of the vehicle after it's been running for a while. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this and if they might have any possible solutions or know how much it might cost to get the problem resolved.

-Thanks.
