FWD haters.
...especially since car makers and auto writers tend to dump cars into categories, regardless of drivetrain. This makes absolutely NO sense. A FWD 2011 Celebrity/Lumina/impala should NOT be in the same category/segment as, say, a RWD 2011 Dodge Charger or a RWD 2011 Genesis. Yet, car makers and automotive writers/magazines/publications lump them all together.

I've never hated FWD (I've owned 2, after all), just disliked it for 2 main reasons.
1 ... Comments about FWD/RWD in winter and how FWD is so superior in snow/ice, etc. If that's the case, EVERYONE MUST have walked EVERYWHERE in the 50s/60s/70s when the bulk of the cars were RWD....
2 ... Ch#$r%*et's history of placing heritage names on FWD cars. It would've been interesting to see the reaction if the new Camaro had been FWD, instead of RWD ... or if the Chevelle nameplate had been placed on a FWD car. Give 'em time ... may be done yet.
Instead ... the Nova was on the FWD Toyota Nova/Ch#$r%*et Corolla, the Malibu was placed (and continues) on the Corsica replacement vehicle, and the Monte Carlo and Impala nameplates were placed on Celebrity/Lumina replacements.
According to the book _Chevrolet: The Complete History_ [copyright 1996 by Publications International LTD], on page 348: "With the new Lumina coupe and sedan effectively replacing their Celebrity counterparts...." And, on page 359: "Taking the place of the aging Celebrity sedan was the Lumina sedan ... a coupe version followed in the fall."
Also, the Lumina shared types (Eurosport), dashboards (flat/horizontal), tail lights (3 square on each side, across the back panel, more or less) and FWD with the Celebrity.....
In addition ... the Monte Carlo was the only one of the cousin names (Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass Supreme, Pontiac Grand Prix) to NOT be slapped on a FWD car IMMEDIATELY after the RWD versions ended in 1987/1988.
With the Lumina redesign in 1995, the mc name was placed on the coupe. Then, when the next redesign occurred in 2000, the impala name was placed on the sedan.

Not if you actually KNOW how to DRIVE. I have NEVER ... repeat NEVER ... been in a ditch in my RWD cars. EVER.
It is about KNOWING how to handle YOUR car, regardless of the drivetrain.

The Caprice Classic is quickly becoming my favorite car ... partially because the nameplate has never seen FWD.

Because the daily driver is FWD I hesitate to replace it with RWD, my ideal daily driver is something that's AWD. If someone offered me an AWD Magnum or Charger for my Monte I would probably end up taking it.
It’s even worse when you have staggered rims like mine, which makes it appear as if they are RWD.
I once had a smog tech back my car onto the rollers, I looked at him and asked for my car to be taken down…He asked why, I said “if you don’t know your cars – you can’t smog it…” LOL.
Wasn’t the first time and probably not the last.
