Psh, peppier than my 1974 Monte. Only 145 HP. 350 V8 with a Rochester 2-bbl.

My mom's 2003 Monte SS/HS has the 3.8 of course. I would love to race it on the 1/4 mile

I love this thread. I have owned nothing but fwd cars... I know the design of fwd transmissions aren't the greatest for performance, but I can still hang with the best rwd cars out there.

Honestly, RWD cars are much better for modding for power...I believe most any car person would agree with me on that...FWD is a lot less mod friendly, easier to break front end parts, especially the transmission...But if it's done correctly it is nice to put a shock on the rwd guys face when you keep up with or pass one that is mildly fast...

I love my monte and am happy I modded it...if it came rwd with the ls2 like my gto, I don't think woulda purchased the gto....I will never give up my monte, but I don;t think i would ever buy another fwd car ever again, especially not one to mod.

I have a fwd and a rwd car and if GM would ever build a decently fast awd car I would be all over that...I drove my brothers g35x and the ability to hit the gas/grip and go is absolutely amazing...yes the drive train is heavy but I'd still take one...

As for rwd in the bad weather, I drive the gto no problem...people just need to be responsible and drive slowly and not try to race or burnout/drift in bad weather...

I don't mind people knocking FWD so much as I hate when people say my Monte isn't a real monte cause it's fwd...I guess it's a similar argument but I do see it as a different argument all together.

Joe

I highly doubt that. we have 8 second quarter mile cars out here that are street cars, daily driven.

I told ya'll I sold my 01 SS. The deal fell through so I get to keep her. Not a prob. I took her on 2 trips averaging 30-33 mpg. No complaints. I did not like fwd at first because everything I drove was or is rwd. This a good time to have her since gas prices have gone up. The body styling has the look of Nascar which is a + . The 3.8 is a very good engine with plenty of power when needed and great gas mileage. Let the haters hate. Sticks and stones.

Lol. That's kinda what I was thinking.

There's no point in acting like any of our cars is going to have a chance against an 8 second car. What's important is that you enjoy your Monte. Who cares if it's a 14, 15, or 16 second cars. Just make it faster.

In the end RWD wins all, but you can still have fun with FWD cars and surprise a few people from time to time.
