That sucks! My second to last job (a small printers) went out of business but luckily got bought by the last company I worked for (who laid me off). Like I've said, I have been looking for 8 months now and NOTHING! I have been working in this industry for 14 years and have done just about everything except web design. At least I am in a better situation about my car payments. I pay $52 per week (I get paid weekly for my temp job) and only owe just over 6k for Silver. No more $400 car payments a month!

I wish you luck and find a good agency that deals with graphics. Revamp your resume and get it up on the job boards. I don't know what state you are from but there are a couple in my area (Chicagoland). Hopefully things will turn around soon.

That sucks for sure! Sorry to hear about your company closing.
Keeping prayers that the economy turns soon, and people start getting their jobs back.

Sorry to hear it.

If things don't turn around soon, a lot more of us will be standing in the unemployment line.

Taz, any jobs up north?

Hi `Shannon,
How can a corporation be so stupid ?
How can a country be so stupid ?
Answer: Greed/Mis-management/Fraud

As I arrive @ my g/father's business this morning
at 5 A.M., I wish I had the day `off to enjoy with friends.
I read/hear the World/National News, then log on2
the MCF and read the new posts.
Shannon, I was sorry 2 read your employment news : (
and I hope that you can find another position soon.

Krystalmethod, SORRY to hear about your job.I know the feeling. I've only been looking for a week now, but there is NOTHING out there that I am qualified for. Seems like all the work is STILL going to China. I talked with some old friends at lunch yesterday, and they told me that the Chevy Malibu and Volt programs, most of the tooling is being built in China. I certainly hope the Chinese will be buying those cars, cuz the people here can't buy new cars if they don't have jobs! They save a buck buying the tooling over there, but the stuff id so junk it won't run, and the American tool makers get paid to fix the Chinese junk. It would be cheaper in the long run to buy USA made and guaranteed tooling that would be quality and run. It's these stupid decisions that are the reasons that US companies go belly up.

It totally sucks and I feel your pain. I have 10 years experience in PC Tech support, network support and Internet Security. What am I doing now..... placing parts in a chute that go into a grinder.

It is an easy job with great security though.

This is so true. It's exactly what I'm doing. Thanks everybody, and RocknSS are you getting unemployment benefits? It infuriates me that our jobs are going to China. I hope the O'bama administrations knows what the hell it's doing, right now it seems like alot of grandstanding and looking good for the media.

I haven't got any unemployment payments yet, but I've applied, and been told I qualify for $362/week for 26 weeks. Better than nothing, but not enough to pay bills.

Has anyone here been denied payments?
