If you want stability, go with a MacBook and get MS Office Student/Teacher Edition 2008. The ONLY reason I have a PC, is because my wife's classes required it. Here's what I have. Toshiba Satellite, 250 gb hard drive, 2 gb of ram upgradable to 4. AMD Turion processor with Windows Vista.

Go HP or Dell, stick with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Dealnews.com usually has good laptop deals listed and they change daily.
