City Rivalries
*
Spring is a great time to be a sports fan, with NCAA March Madness, the start of baseball season, near the end of the basketball & hockey seasons, soccer season, etc. Watching the Cincinnati/Ohio State NCAA game & anticipating the upcoming Kentucky/Louisville match, I thought about rivalries between cities, particularly those of all the different Chicago sports teams. What other cities/teams have rivalries?
CHICAGO vs DETROIT
Bears ... Lions
White Sox ... Tigers
Bulls ... Pistons
Blackhawks ... Red Wings
CHICAGO vs ST LOUIS
Cubs ... Cardinals
Blackhawks ... Blues
CHICAGO vs GREEN BAY
Bears ... Packers
CHICAGO vs MILWAUKEE
Cubs ... Brewers

Wolves ... Admirals

CHICAGO vs CLEVELAND
White Sox ... Indians
Bulls ... Cavaliers
CHICAGO vs NEW YORK
Cubs ... Mets
White Sox ... Yankees
Bulls ... Knicks
CHICAGO vs LOS ANGELES
Cubs ... Dodgers
Bulls ... Lakers
Bulls ... Clippers
Blackhawks ... Kings

Being from Michigan and being a life long wolverine fan my rivals are Michigan State and Ohio State. I'll root for MSU when they arent playing U OF M but I'll root for anyone over OSU. As for the pro rivalries I dont really get into any of them. I love my Lions and the Steelers and I like players from a lot of other teams too so I like to root for them.

I tend to think a little more of rivalries vs states myselves as I think college sports tends to have the more intense rivalries vs the pro sports (baseball not included).
Oklahoma-Texas (I'll root for Oklahoma State on occasion depending on who they're playing but I'll root for almost anyone vs Texas)
Kentucky-Indiana
Ohio-Michigan
Kansas-Missouri
Oklahoma-Nebraska
Kentucky-Tennessee
Nebraska-Colorado
Indiana-Ohio
I think Oklahoma-Texas has a little additional flavor to it as the two states had several fights way back in their history over exactly where the border was between the two, so it definitely precedes major sports.
