Hybrid Vehicle Transmission Technology Advances

A cooperative venture between General Motors, DaimlerChrysler and BMW is adding to the necessary expansion of hybrid technology. This new approach to a hybrid vehicle combines multiple electric motors with a fixed-gear transmission. The result will be vehicles that will offer advanced fuel efficiency, high performance and increased load capacity.
The basis of the vehicle is a transmission that allows an infinite number of gear ratios or one of four fixed gear ratios. This new transmission, about the size of a normal automatic transmission, can be adapted to existing internal combustion engines with few alterations. This new technology can be used in front-engine, rear-engine and four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Proper Tire Pressure Could Save Your Life

[:-]
Under-inflated tires are responsible for 33,000 auto accident injuries in the United States and 660 fatalities every year. It is important for you to treat your tires like your life depends on them, because it does. Tire maintenance should include regular checking of tire pressure, your vehicles alignment, regular rotation of your tires and awareness of tread wear.
Proper tire pressure is one of the most important things you can do to make your vehicle safer. Lack of proper tire pressure can cause decreased steering and braking control. Low pressure will also cause excessive tread wear and decrease your gas mileage.

It is to your advantage to have an air pressure gauge, tread depth gauge and a copy of the Rubber Manufacturers Association handbook in your car's toolbox.
