Buying Advice
I'm new to this forum, or any forum for that matter, and am searching for some expert advice. I've discovered a love for these cars over the last couple of years after buying a 96' off a family member for what they were trading it in for (about $1,000), and am finally looking to upgrade. I've found a 2004 Supercharged SS with 60,200 mi. for about $12,000. Is the Supercharged SS worth the extra cash? Or will is standard SS just as much fun with the lower price? And is this Supercharged SS that Ive found worth the cash? thanks josh

I am soooo glad I got a supercharged over a regular ss. $12,000 seems a bit high, what state do you live in and can you see if any mods were done to it? Is it at a dealer or private sale? Maybe we can see the listing or pics.....
I live in Wisconsin. Found very few other listings in the state. I haven't looked out of state yet. I guess for a really good price Id consider a little road trip. Ive never owned a car worth talking about so I'm looking for something special, but only for the right price and from what Ive read the standard SS is fun for about a month, then you begin regretting not buying the supercharged. I can totally see myself in that spot. Here is the link to the listing. 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo HI-Sport SS

Thanks for the input. I'm in Marinette (about an hour north of Green Bay). I'll probably keep looking. The V8 interest me quite a bit. We'll see. I'm not in a hurry.
Is there any truth in the general complaints with the transmissions?

It's a nice car, however, 12k is a bit high. I say more around 8 would be acceptable.
The transmission on the V6 engines doesn't fail too often under normal wear. However driving it hard will significantly affect it. However, on the V8, even with normal wear you have a good chance of it failing, if you're not careful. Let's just say - if you're ENJOYING your V8 engine, your transmission is on the way out
.
Good luck.

I'd say with that amount of miles on it - seems like below average miles for a car that age, if the paint is in good condition, no rust bubbles starting, rock chips etc, $10k would be a fair price for it.
I was going to say 8-10k actually, but being a dealership, you're probably right with 10 Amy.
Heyy! Welcome to the forum! Looks like a clean car! If it helps any I got my 04 supercharged ss in May 2008 with 18,300 miles on it for about 18K when it was all said and done and it was sooo worth it!
