Stay miles away from Chase and Bank of America. My opinion would be a Wells Fargo if you got a branch near ya. They are a good solid national bank, with branches pretty much everywhere (makes it nice if you travel) and offer plenty of services. Waving the fees on the accounts is really easy also, I have a Checking that's waved with my Direct Deposit and my Savings is waved with the automatic transfer of $25 from Checking each month.

 

As Leprechaun93, he is waiting for the Bank to finish verifying his ID. I too am unfamiliar with this practice, but I get the impression M&T is a much SMALLER Bank and they may not have systems in place that are as fast as some of the bigger Banks, hence why verification of his ID is not immediate.
I spent 11 years working I.T. for Key Bank, and I never had access to the money (not even via a computer system), I still had to take all the different internal yearly training programs (things regarding privacy, anti-money laundering and a about 3 other items). So this Bank is just doing their due-diligence, just stinks it's not as instant/fast as the big banks.
