oh yeah. they both went off. there was apparently a lot of damage under the hood. i also talked to the adjuster and made sure they used all OEM parts instead of the knock-offs that they originally tried to use (headlights and some stuff under the hood i guess). i explained to him that the car was one of 1,020 and it really needed to be OEM parts to keep it as original and rare as possible. i guess since i was nice about it, the insurance company obliged. made me glad i was able to keep my temper with the guy, since he didn't have to do that. and since i'm not usually the most even-tempered person around, haha.

they also had to replace the dash (the uppermost part that goes from door to door) since it completely buckled upon impact. the whole dash panel was crushed.

i'm still surprised when i look at the estimate at how much damage there was. i wasn't going that fast (30 max), and though the airbags both went off, i didn't even hit it and i wasn't wearing my seatbelt (i know, tsk tsk).

 

Oh wow...well that makes me feel a little better. (not that your car had so much damage) but the fact that my airbags did not go off. My windshield is not even cracked. And like I said before, it literally looks like only cosmetic stuff wrong. So I can start having hope again its fixable. I got to believe that the dash/ airbag replacement was really expensive. Do you by chance know what part of the 12K was related to that???

And yes, I already told both AAA (my insurance) and the body shop that I want all genuine GM OEM parts and NOTHING else! PERIOD! But I played the nice card very well. LOL My dad had his door fixed at this Chrylser dealer about four years ago on his Mustang and they did AWESOME work....and yes, they fix ANY make of cars....

 

i'll have to look at the estimate again tomorrow, but i'll let you know. it's 3 pages long!! definitely a good thing that your airbags didn't deploy.

So sorry to hear the news! This is another reason that I have taken to rollerblading to work. I don't even drive my Monte daily now, because the more its out there the more its likely to happen. Its almost inevitable that we will all lose our Monte's to car accidents one day. These things are tough enough, but cars really aren't built to survive car accidents any more. This is in the manufactures best interest (sell more new cars), but its done under the guise of safety. I always say, if crumple zones are so safe, why don't race cars have them instead of rigid roll cages? Your sure lucky the airbags didn't go off or it would be done for sure.

The main thing is that you are not hurt. It sure does sound like a scam to me. If he tries to add medical bills, then you know its a scam.

well the airbags didnt blow so thats good cuz thats usually like 3k alone...sorry to hear what happened....its a beautiful car i hope thing get fixed

The only ones I have are on my cell phone, horrible quality, and to be honest, I have no clue how to get them on the computer...LOL And I don't pay for internet on the my cell phone, so i can't e-mail them to myself......
