Anyone ever had gas siphoned?
Fuel pump went out right after I filled the gas tank. Had to drop the tank to get to the pump. So I had to get all but about 4 or 5 gallons out before I could even try to drop the tank. It would have been far too heavy with a full tank.
Gas does have a strong taste.. always have water with me anytime I do it. You can buy pumps that suck a vacuum, but you can never the pump off and keep the siphon going to do anything with it. Mouth is the best thing. I never siphoned leaded fuel.... but unleaded still has a strong taste to it.
Gas - about .80 a gallon.
Pack of Winstons - .75
Big Mac - .95
6 pack of beer - 1.80
yes, I'm old, and GET OFF MY LAWN!
This story goes back almost thirty years. I was dating my ex wife at the time and I don't think I was twenty yet. I was working at a hospital doing custodial work third shift. I wasn't making much money and they paid every two weeks. I had recently bought a 1966 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. This car was a mess but it ran. My girl friend at the time needed the car during the day while I slept. I gave her my last ten dollars to put gas in the car. The gas gage didn't work. I left for work that night and got about half way and the car died because it ran out of gas. It was 20 miles to work. I ended up not going to work that night and hitched a ride home. I called the girlfriend and asked her what she had done with the ten bucks. She swore up and down that she put gas in the car. She was almost in tears because I didn't believe her at first. After threatening to give me my engagement ring back I figured I better believe her. From then I thought someone stole the gas. After that I borrowed some money, grabbed the other car, and went to the gas station to get a few more gallons of gas. I get to the Caddy and start putting gas in the tank. As I am doing this I am hearing a strange noise. I look under the car and as I'm putting gas in it is leaking out thru a rust hole in the tank. That ended the mystery of the missing gas. I ended up taking a one gallon milk jug and mounting it on the passenger front floor board and running gas line thru the rusty floor board to the fuel pump. I was then that I found out a 66 Caddy doesn't go far on a gallon of gas.
By the way I married the girlfriend and we were married 26 years and raised three kids. We divorced in 2008.

To my knowledge there has been no siphoning from any of our cars. Surprising since our motorhome sits here with a flippin 55 gallon tank. We do have 2 small siphon pumps we use to move gas around like from the boat to the lawn mower and such. But it is hard to siphon newer cars, I cant get the hose down far enough on my 05 gmc envoy to suck gas and i assume the rest of the cars are the same.
yes, things were much cheaper in the old days, but pay was a lot lower too. things were better, no doubt. but we could have it a lot worse.
trying to stay positive here. lol. i think iv only filled it up 3 times since i bought it in March
correct me if im wrong. but newer cars have a screen inside the gas tank to keep people from poking hoses down there. by the time you get the hose in there, the cops will already have you in cuffs
