Default Another Fird Torino Restoration Update

Alright guys, it has been two months since Tuesday (June 9th) that I bought the Torino, and about 2 months today (June 11th) that I got to work on it (taking pieces of trim off). Here are some updates and pictures. I have been doing alot of work on cleaning up parts (like window crank handles, door handles, chrome glamor rings ,center caps, alot of work polishing and cleaning the grill, the headlight glamor rings, etc.). I don't have any before/after shots though. However, teh car is now completly stripped to a hull (or atleast, as much stripping to a hull as I'm going to do.) The engine and tranny have been pulled. I got to work on getting all of the grease off of the undercarraige so we don't set teh car on fire when we cut and weld the new floor pans in. Plus, it had ot be cleaned to be painted anyway. So here are the pictures as of the two month anniversary.

Here is a picture of me underneath the car with a metal grinding wheel and an air drill cleaning the grease off.

My mother took that picture and I came out for this one. This was around lunch. You should seen me by nightfall when I came in.

And here are some before and after pictures of the undercarriage.

Before:

After:

And here is the engine bay, which I have done some minimal cleaning on.

And she now longer rests beside the garage... it is now under the carport.

Well 'Space, I'm in summer school right now. I'm doing Statistics online with Campbell University and British Literature II with the community college. I go back to Campbell on the 17th of August to start class on the 19th. We haven't really planned out a vacation for this year. My dad and I are probably going to make a pilgrimage to Georgia becasue there is a Torino/Fairlane restoration place that sells parts for these cars. They bring in cars and restore some, while selling the good parts off of others. They have several parts that aren't in reproduction that we need, so we'll probably go there and check out the parts before buying (since they are used). Other than that, no idea....

Hi `Duane, I sure can relate to online course's
Sure takes a lot of self discipline sometimes to hit the books. I think being homeschooled help me adjust
easier. I liked the courses/prof's I had @
Phoenix University, and it was easier to get my online degree.
I wish I was in the position to go to college on campus,
and really my time @ community college was just not like a
real college experience.

Great to read that you found a place that has parts
for your Torino & that you will be able to travel there
and check them `out.
Do you enjoy working on your project ?
I think it's great that you are taking pictures of your
progress & rebuilding stages.

Wish you & family a super summer. Enjoy... & Good Luck

Very cool Duane, it's coming along nicely. I just watched Grand Torino last night on DVD and I was thinking about you.

Good work so far Duane!

Every time I've seen the DVD's for the movie in the stores, you come to mind.

It'll be a great car when you're done. Something you'll hold on to forever hopefully.
