It is an old article (and I recall an article older then that talking about GM moving the G8 to the Chevy line up, but possibly with a new name). GM is like a kid that can't keep a secret, it would not surprise me if they start generating a "buzz" on the idea, wait 3+ years and have it on dealer lots (that's kinda what they did with the 5th Gen Camaro).

As for competing with the 5th gen, doubtful. It may be a similar platform, but like traditional GM history, it will lack some of what makes the Camaro "special" so the Camaro is still a more expensive and higher HP car. It could be as simple as the tuning on the PCM, but it will be something.

All i can say is i wanna AWD monte that's zeta-based for performance and can do mid to low 12's at least

The Chevy version of the G8 is coming. We won't be getting it though. The new car is the new 2012 Chevy Caprice POV which I think stands for Police Only Vehicle. There will be no civilian version as long as the governm$ent still owns some of GM. Hopefully this will change. The new Caprice is rear wheel drive and a V-8.

I agree...but they (GM) put the 'SS' option on a 4 door Impala.

Who knows if our requests for a new Monte would get much attention, but the above keywords might get some attention after setting off an alarm or two on a few computers.

 

I wouldn't mind the caprice being civilian. Seems like a pretty decent car to me. And the world is loosing all it's traditional RWD V8 sedans. Take a look.

I thought I read somewhere in a car magazine the G8 was going to be turned into a caprice, and that ford was going to mae a turbo v6 tarus and those were going to be the next generation of police vehicle?
