I don't know if I care for the stop/start technology or not. I suppose if it were seamless then it wouldn't be so bad, but if it creates a lag I definitely wouldn't care for it.
I think the auto industry has the answer to reducing theft of keyless entry vehicles right under their nose. Why don't they incorporate a thumb print scanner into the start button? The technology is very accurate and inexpensive. That way if a car thief did happen to highjack the FOB signal and enter the vehicle they would only have a portion of the access code. The thumb print verification would complete the security check and allow the vehicle to be started.

Hi `Mike, I like the thumb print `idea, but there would have to be a thumb print for everyone that drove the vehicles + service tech personnel, etc ? Would there `be a over-ride switch ? I just think there are to many high-tech auto thieves out there that will find a way `if they want a car
There have been thieves since the beginning of time & we have not found a way to control or stop them...A few we have deter-ed, but they continue to take what is not theirs, but yours Maybe `if we did cut off their hands/feet *blinded them & punched out their ear drums out it might deter a few Oh, I don't believe in violence, until you mess with my prized ride ~> LOL
p.s. I also don't like the auto shut `off I want to stay in control of my car & not have a robot shut'in it off when I stop 4-Sure....I want to hear the rumble of my exhaust when I sitt'in @ a light & rev'in it up to race the guy next to me in his Mustang LOL
Thanks `Mike for your words/posts & all your contributions to the MCF

As far as thefts, if theres a will theres a way Now im all for technology in cars, start stop i only associate with silly hyrbrids. If i had a New V8 muscle car i dont want it shutting off at the light, like space said i wanna sit there and listen to it rumble. I also feel like it would cause more wear and tear on the engine, starting and stopped so much more.

The thumb print idea is OK, but I bought a laptop with the finger print recognition security function and it took way to long to get it to recognize and verify my prints.....Turned that off as fast as it took me to get it out of the box.......It was a total pita and useless........

Sounds like our thumb print scanner at work that we use for various machines like the bailer and compactor, and doors to. Some people scan their thumbs over and over and never works for em, others get it first try.
