So in saying that, I will indeed walk if an alternative fuel isn't produced, rather than drive a go-kart.

General Motors today announced the next-generation Chevrolet city car for Europe will be based on the popular Beat concept, after 1.9 million online voters elected it their favorite of a trio of minicar styling studies shown at the 2007 New York Auto Show.

Speaking at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where the production announcement was made, Chevrolet General Manager, Ed Peper, said: “The people have spoken. The vote count tripled all previous GM online consumer surveys, telling us Beat resonated with customers all around the world. Chevrolet was overwhelmed by the positive reaction to each of the three mini concept cars, but Beat was a sound winner.” GM vice chairman, Bob Lutz, also revealed that the Beat was the automaker's front runner since the introduction of the trio.
Recent rumors indicate GM is mulling a plan to import the car to the United States. According to a BusinessWeek report this summer, GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner wouldn’t give a firm answer as to whether the vehicle would make it to the U.S. market, but he hinted that he’s keen on selling one here.
“I just looked at them the other day,” Wagoner said, “and not just because I wanted to look at them.”
The new city car will debut for the 2010 model year. GM says it will incorporate the Beat Concept's "core values."
GM officials also indicated that they had not ruled out a production version of the Chevrolet Groove — placing a close second to the Chevy Beat in online voting. If given the green light, look for the Groove to follow a year or two after the Beat's initial U.S. introduction.

I just had to go get gas [X(]to fuel my twin 454 Chevy Marine
Engines : (
I don't go to the Marina, because they add a dollar to a gallon
for their dock service : (
I carry `it : (, but I'm happy/thankful to still be able to get it.
The man @ the station said it's `up about a $1.00 a gal,
since last year @ this time : ( [X(][X(][X(]
I don't know how much it's affecting your driving in your
Monte Carlo's, but it sure is affecting me.
I read in the news the cost of a barrel of oil is $98 : (
How high will it go ? up - up - & away more that I can afford.
This sucks, this really,really sucks
My dreams are being tarnished about building up a big
block with two big four barrel carbs : )
I sure hope we find other sources for fuel : )
Is that why we are fighting overseas ? For Fuel ?
I hope that is not the reason : (
I will take life, over fuel, but you better start thinking of
putting a locked `gas cap on your Monte. `Space
has a long hose, and he's Search'in : )
Wish the reader of my thoughts/words a `happy : )

Does Gas Go Bad?
[:-]

Does gasoline really go "bad" if you leave it unused for a period of time? Some people are convinced this is just another urban legend, and that people who worry about "old gas" and spend money on fuel stabilizer are wasting psychic energy as well as cash.

But in fact, gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems, ranging from hard starting, to rough running, to no starting at all.

Here's Why
Unlike crude oil, gasoline is a highly refined product brewed to a certain chemical composition with very specific characteristics. One characteristic of gas is volatility, a term used to describe how easily and under what conditions the gas vaporizes so it can be efficiently burned in your car's engine.

" The most
highly volatile components in gasoline also tend to evaporate over time. "
[:-]

The most highly volatile components in gasoline also tend to evaporate over time. As they do, the remaining fuel's volatility and ability to combust properly degrades. The less volatile the fuel, the less effectively it burns in your engine. The result is diminished engine performance. Your engine may still start and run, but it probably won't run as well.

The good news is, once the old gas has been consumed and the tank is topped off with fresh fuel, the problem should cure itself. Evaporation of volatile compounds can be limited by making sure the gas cap is secured tightly. For the same reason, be sure all portable gas containers are sealed tightly as well.

A More Serious Problem: Oxidation
Hydrocarbons in the gas react with oxygen to produce new compounds that eventually change the chemical composition of the fuel. This leads to gum and varnish deposits in the fuel system.

These deposits and impurities can clog up gas lines and filters, as well the small orifices in a carburetor and the even smaller orifices in a fuel injector. Removing these deposits can be expensive and your vehicle may not run at all or run very poorly until they are removed.

Water Contamination
Condensation can form inside your gas tank and lines from heat cycling. Fuels such as E85, which have a high concentration of ethanol alcohol, may be even more susceptible to water contamination, as ethanol likes to draw moisture out of the surrounding air.

Water contamination can be a problem at gas stations with light traffic due to a slightly different kind of heat cycling. The underground storage tanks experience increases and decreases in temperature. This can cause moisture to form and contaminate the fuel. When you fill up at such a station, you're pumping in the water along with the gas. Such low-traffic stations may also have other contaminants in their underground storage tanks, such as rust. They are best avoided when possible.

Water, of course, does not work too well as a fuel in an internal combustion engine. It will cause hard starting and rough running until it's purged from the system. It can also contribute to internal rusting of the gas lines and tank. The resultant scale and small particles can create a true nightmare, sometimes requiring the replacement of the gas lines and tank at considerable expense.

" Oxidized fuel often turns darker over time and may even smell sour. "
[b]You can reduce the chances of water contamina

$2.99 a gallon today in NM. Merry Christmas, right? Corporate execs easing gas prices so we'll spend more money at the mall? Call me a cynic. Either way, I'm happy to see it down a little.

do you notice when oil companies are at say, 2.75 a gallon, and watn $3.00 a gallon.... they put prices to $3.25 a gallon for awhiel, and then when it comes down to about $3.00 again, everybody is like "WELL THANK GOD, we aren't paying $3.25 anymore" and everybdoy spends money happily. Just watch yourselves.... personally, I want fuel back at $2.00 a gallon atleast.

I agree completely, it saddens me that $3 is a good thing. I'm afraid, however, that we'll never see $2 again, considering demand (see China and India) continues to increase, and supply is relatively fixed. We're going to end up seeing the price of gas condoned politically as a 'luxury tax' once more efficient (hybrid, electric, whatever) cars become commonplace. At that point, there will even be a social movement against us 'dinosaurs' that love our cars and insist on driving older, less efficient tech. I give that about ten to fifteen years to happen. Meanwhile, gas prices will continue to climb.
