****ed up huh,

I know this cuz I went to the dealership where I bought my car. Telling them about this chugging. A very slight change in the rpm when you put a load on the motor. Which my first thought was injectors. This mechanic told me about the silent recall.
You had to have a problem with the tranny plus it had to be under 60,000 miles.

That is messed up. Sounds like the technical service bulletins the dealership told me about when I complained about various problems in my 99 Grand Am.

I've never heard of a silent recall... Also wouldn't it make sense that rpms change with a load on the motor?

all recalls are posted online I'm pretty sure its illegal for them to find an issue and not tell their customers or the public, that doesn't mean they have to notify you personally because it probably won't affect the consumer much unlike the Honda gas pedal problem or missing brake pads with gm

Now I may be wrong. But I was under the impression a "recall" was an issue that had to be corrected because it affects the safety of the vehicle and it's occupants. Mandatory recalls had to be issued to the registered owners of the affected vehicles.

Issues that are common to a certain vehicle, but don't affect it's safety (in other words, it can wait until the next scheduled service or the problem comes up on it's own), are Technical Service Bulletins. Like the tendency for the 6th gen guages to go bad. No recall was issued, but GM was aware that it was a problem.

That's what I understood anyway. Maybe I'm wrong. Wouldn't put it past an auto company to pull something sneaky.

I wouldn't worry too much about a used tranny. Any more than any other car. Try to get one that you know wasn't beaten on. Preferrably from someone you know or trust.

As for the seats.... I have the same problem. Fuses are good, wires are good, switch is good. No heat.

I wouldn't say one is more reliable than the other. Turbo is where the higher power is though. Also no need to twin turbo on these cars, one single turbo is plenty for power.

I also agree with sc or Turbo being about equal in reliability when both tuned correct. The big power is in a Turbo build for sure. Welcome to the site!

O and you can use a series 3 engine only thing needed when doing this is a throttle body adapter. Zzp sells the adapter this allows you to use the aluminum Plenum with your stock throttle body. The mounts and sensors are the same. (Injector connectors may be different but just cut Your connectors off and solder the right ones on and that problem is fixed.
