New Member or not
Hello members, I have been a member here since 2019 but maybe never posted before. Anyways I'm a 77 year old retired man who has come here to maybe get some good ideas on what to do with my loved 07 burgandy colored Monte Carlo LT with 57,000 or 58,000 miles. It's been a great car.
I have a couple other cars also in the mid oughts and a big bike that I haven't touched this year, just sitting there on a teather and waiting for me to take it out. I also have more than enough to do around here as the yard work never seems to be done.
Anyways the reason that got me to post up something here is the Monte has been selected to be my winter car and that it has been and well cared for as you would never beleave it to be as it is one very sharp looking car that is mechanically sound and is really easy on the eyes and when I bought it it only had 40 thousand on the clock and I said to myself great looking wintercar. I checked it all out and bought it and first thing that I did was got it undercoated so that it would be around for a while. The undercoating did it's job where it was applied and that is something that slipped by me as these cars have those plastic rocker covers over the rocker panels and that is where my pain comes from. A unibody car that has hidden rocker panels is in my mind is a no go and they have rusted away to where there is nothing left to weld to as I was hoping to do in having a metal shop make me up some new panels and then get them installed and painted and put back the plastic covers and keep the sweet looking Monte in the game. I have now got a problem of getting rid of a great looking mildly used car where everything works as it should and rides as so, What a shame as it hurts to have to let it go somewhere there is a need for all the fine metal panels electronics and intereor, plus tires are really fine. The cost to have some shop do this kind of repair would run me over Seven Thousand and that I'm affraid is just to much. Engine and tranny are superb. I am not looking to sell my car here on the forum but I figured that I would come here and put this delemma of mine out there and see if there is some ave. that I am not aware of. Funny thing it passed NY inspection last winter but I was told about the rust and I talked it over with the collision shop guy and he figured it wouldn't be that bad. It was so I will not renew my insurance come this October unless there is a good fix to the problem. Anyways that's what I have to offer for my first time out. Thank you
