Default 07 monte carlo rust issues

i know this is way too early to be having these issues, but my passenger side quarter panel lip edge that wraps around inside the fenderwell has a giant rust bubble on it thats cracked and spreading closer to the qp itself, plus 2 other bubbles that are starting. im pretty sure i know what caused it, its had passenger side qp work done to it by the previous owner, and whatever body shop did it didnt do a very good job of rust protection. and the funny thing is, these bubbles are within a small area of on another, and the rest of it is perfectly fine. the reason im posting this is i dont know if they make patches, if i have to make my own, or if i have to buy a whole new qp. plus i need to know if theres any good reputable sites that would sell patches or qps. ebay is not preferred but will consider

this is a common problem with the 00-05 montes and since the body is pretty much the same with the 06-07 i would expect the same issue. it sucks i know and yes a 5 year old car shouldnt be rusting out yet. It is BS.

I dont think anyone sells patches. the body shop i went too for my 2003 monte was going to cut that chunk out and make a new piece for it. i could be wrong though.

I don't have bad bubbling rust on mine, but theres a few spots where paint came off and theres some surface rust. I just quit driving my car in winter lol

i just hope there isnt a lot of hidden bs when i go to fix it. if i can just fix the edge itself and not have to do anything to the outer quarter panel, id be golden

if you just replace the edge more than likely the rust will be back in a short amount of time

I'm having the same issue with my 03. Mine is on both sides. I have searched for months for patch panels. I was told by one place that sells them for pretty much everything (even Corsicas) that they cannot sell patch panels for the Monte. I have no idea why. Seems pretty stupid that they would have them for some of the other cars that they do, and not the Montes.

I've decided that I am just going to take it to my Dad's house and cut out the rust and fabricate new pieces to weld in, and then repaint, and then take it and have it undercoated to try and prevent it from happening again. Not much else you can do.
