Just wondering how much it will cost to get rust out of the quarter panels and repainted. Hey MCF members I'm just wondering roughly how much it'll cost to get my MC repainted and rust removed from quarter panels from a body shop?

 

Depends on your area, and how much needs to be cut out, but I would budget between $800-1500.

 

I hate sharing bad news, but I live in NY where corrosion is unavoidable.

I have been told by every shop I've asked (and it's been many) that first, they won't touch rust problems, and second, even if they did it would cost a ton and come right back if they miss the tiniest bit.

Rust repair is a never-ending cat and mouse chase. Rust removal, like sandblasting or a cut/weld job with new metal are another ball game but way out in left field.

Personally, like you (and many here) I'm still determined to keep this car looking like new for as long as I can - and if that means a total sandblast all around and then a repaint, I think I'd still be interested. Just have to find someone willing, first!

Unless, of course, I find the right '07 black SS.

 

Yeah I live like an hour NW of Chicago and hate that they still use salt in the winter months instead of finding a better alternative. So essentially be prepared to spend a couple thousand if I find someone willing to cut out body pieces that are affect and weld new ones up and repaint? Now by the sounds of it it'll be a struggle to find someone willing to do it maybe I can talk to my uncle who owns a body shop see if he'll be willing to do it lol
