My name is Connye and I have owned a great deal of Chevys in my time. Currently, I own a 2002 Monte Carlo SS that I inherited from my granddaughter after her father (not knowing very much about Chevys) got her for her first car. She drove it to school once, gave it back to her Dad because it was "too much car". That was fine with me, I wanted it the first time I saw it. I had a Jimmy at the time, so my son-n-law and I swapped. She was not in the best of shape but over the eight years that I have had her, as finances permitted, she is in pretty good shape. The interior (leather) is almost perfect and the sunroof, radio cassette player (believe it or not, and I have dozens of 60-70 cassettes), CD player, heater, etc work fine. I don't know about the AC, never use it. I am retired and am an old hippie. I have a beautiful, loving Pit and two silver tabbies and love to read and cook. That's about it..Am looking for enjoying this Forum.

Hey hi Connye, cool another 02 Monte man stepping up. See you joined in 17, 1st post now in 21, quit copying me as I disappear for extended periods of time, must be an 02 owner thing. Pits being lovable do not get enough credit for that behavior, but they always say, bad news travels fast. My friend has one and I'm amazed at how well behaved the dog is, a big baby when he gets called out. To funny, big stout, mouth full of sharp teeth, but backs down from the owner. I have a cat if you want another one, dang thing is in heat for the 3rd time in about 6 weeks, her incessant meowing is driving my wife bonkers. Are yours inside cats only? I tire of always dealing with the litter box, year after year. Dogs are gone, can leave the fence gate open now, but am now slave to the cats litter box.

The Monte was a cool score, to much car, that is a good thing for you. 8 years with it, once you turn the corner on some spendy maintenance issues it becomes easier and less costly to own, just maintain it as you are and enjoy its rarity. Keep on a trucking, the Zig Zag man cometh. An old hippie, not one of those kind who never showers I hope, or is that why you have animals to mask your funk? Lol, ha ha jk, old hippie myth, had to play that card. Roll your eyes, but that is funny. I have always said "dont get mad when people use the ammo you gave them to attack you". I'm not showing you my cards, you have to search for ammo.

What type of books you find yourself reading now? I myself am only into non-fiction anymore, no time for fantasy never happened things, as I'm an old soldier. Mostly war books, the horror some people have had to endure while they walked this Earth, ugh, sad. And here we are Mrs. USA the beaming jewel nation being dragged down into the chaos other nations have went through over the ages. Nothing is forever, but dang we have a good gig going on, no need to break it up. God Bless the USA, there may be a time when people look back at us and wonder how that nation fell. Hope we can squeak out 750 more and last at least 1000 years. Well post more sometime throw up a picture of your Monte. I'm going to take a guess and say it is Silver...

Welcome to MCF, Connye! Show us that ride when you can. Too much car?!?! I guess the transaxles might think so, but I don't...... I like mine just fine. I'm sure one day I'll get tired of it and unload it (probably to someone on this forum) but that day ain't today! I've had mine for 8 1/2 years and have as much money in it as it listed for brand new. These things become more rare by the day and a well-kept example will still turn heads and draw compliments. I go to the gas station once every three or four weeks and can NEVER get in and out without someone wanting to talk about the damn car, lol.... Half of 'em have to ask what it is because they don't recognize it due to the newest ones being 15 model years old... It's kinda nice having something that no one else around me has. She's showing her age a bit now, but just like a good woman, they're still beautiful as ever!
