1982 Cranberry Red 5.0L 305 original motor with 69k miles.

Previous owner claimed it was an LS with the factory 350
Was sitting on 22s, immediately replaced with stocks

Needs: suspension work and discovered leak
Also needs interior, more concerned with healthy engine

replacing tie rods and ball joints
-Let me know if I'm missing anything

Slow leak couple drops here and there on the ground
-Possible power steering leak, it's coming from passenger side

*Anyone familiar with "carburetor spring"
When I turn the engine off , the engine wants to keep running,
Take a couple seconds to fully shut off

The choice of engine was either a 6 cylinder or the 305...
So, Unless someone attempted/did put a 350 in it... That's the only way a 350 would have been used.

Your 4th Gen should have an HEI distributor and fuel injection. (it could be a simple timing issue) If it no longer has fuel injection... Then someone changed it out to an older model
305 motor. Which now means it may have the 305 2bbl/4bbl type...
The 305 is notorious for having cam issues ... meaning they were improperly/inferior design by GM. Between the low compression and over valveing (trying to get more out of the small bore) they tend to wear down(cam) very quickly, However, a 305 isn't a bad motor...By merely using after market cam, changing out the down/smaller sized exhaust manifolds will significantly improve the 305 performance base. That was one of GM's attempt at a more efficient anti polluteing motor...

So, If you would kindly let us know a bit more info about the actual motor thats in it... (Carbureated? Fuel injected) etc.... The more info you can provide the better info I/we will be able to provide... I always did like the styleing of the 4th generation Monte Carlo.

Actually, our boat does the "carburetor spring" sometimes but I'm not very familiar with why it happens.

1982 Monte carlo with V-8's were computer controlled quadrajet carb.
the V6 was fuel-injected with throttle-body fuel injection..
