If the catalytic converter is still there and the o2 sensor is still there after the cat it shouldn't harm anything. Keep in mind you may get exhaust fumes inside the car which are toxic.

There is also really no performance gain in doing this. The main restriction of the exhaust on these cars is the down pipe.
