I think guys have put 3800 s/c motors in Grand Ams, so in theory a 5.3 would work... just a lot of wiring and tuning...and the fact of will it actually fit in the engine bay lol

I'm assuming you have a 99-05 Grand Am? I have seen about 2 people that custom fab the 3800 Supercharged engine in there. Admittedly, it looks like a very tight squeeze.
Being a Grand Am and Monte Owner, I'm not going to say your swap is impossible, but I believe getting the 5.3 engine into a Grand Am might not be physically possible.
I believe when GM re-designed the W-body beginning in '97, they designed it with a potential v8 in mind, hence why you can pop the hood and it has a lot of room under the hood (the block for it will be longer due to the additional two cylinders). I don't believe the Grand Am ever had plans for anything bigger then the 3400.
If you have the money, a custom fab shop could make it happen or if you have some creative fabrication skills (perhaps widen the body somehow).
But even if it does fit physically, you will probably want a complete donor car. The 5.3 PCM and wiring is different then any of the Grand Am options.
Again, nothing is impossible, just remember a job like this takes time and money.

Ok thanks guys
Thanks for the help guys, and yes it's an 01 actually, I just wanted to know about the motor swap because I wanted to turn my grand am into like a little street racing car and if I'm going to swap the motors why not get the biggest and baddest that would fit, right? lol
