Window motor swap
hello fellow Monte riders. I am new to this forum aswell as the new proud owner of a 1986 SS M.C. !!!! There are a few things that need to be done and the first thing I want to conques is replacing the window motor. I've taken the door panels off and can see the motor but can't figure out how to get to it. Can anybody help me[sm=bangbang.gif]

You have to reach in there and do it from teh blind side Also Make sure you put a block of wood under the windo so it wont fall on ya.
i roll mine about 1/2 way up so tha ti have some room to losen everythign up. then once that is done you can remove the wooden block to allow it to slide back down the track and rest at the bottom or leave it in there and replace it with teh new motor.
Also another trick to do is this.
take out the first bolt. and put it threw the back side so it is facign you threw the door as a safty for you so it dont come down and get your fingers. (it dose hurt!!)

The window motors in the '86 Montes are held to the doors with rivots. You need to grind them off to get the motor out of the doors. Then either find rivots equal to those you took out or do like I did to my girlfriend's '81 Monte and buy bolts to use so the motor can be held in place.
I went to a tractor supply store and bought enough bolts, nuts, & lock washers to installed the new life-time replacement window motor I got at Auto Zone in her car.
