Question Looking to buy...What should I look for?

Hello, everybody!

I just signed up because I am looking at buying a 2003 Monte SS and I want to see if I can get a feel for some of the really common problems with these cars. I had an 02 Grand Prix GT before this, so I have had the great 3800 motor before (until I blew a head gasket and realized the car wasn't worth it ), but I still want to know what I should look for when I go see this car. It has 151000 miles on it and I need something to last me through college (~3 more years...), so I will appreciate any suggestions you guys have!!

Also, how are these in the winter?? I live in W. Michigan, so we get a lot of snow...

I can't wait to hear from you all!

I've never seen snow but heard these cars are very good driving in it what with FWD and all. And being so heavy. Hope so as I am moving to Tennessee soon. You will have to battle rust. But as long as it was taken care of they are very reliable.

If you've had a GP GT it's pretty much identical to a 03 Monte SS, same every thing except the obvious body/interior looks. But most common issues here are (not in order): transmission, axles, wheel hubs, coolant elbows and evap leaks.
