Default Intermittent cruise control problem

Since I can't find this issue already addressed, I'll start a new thread. I've had my 2000 Monte Carlo SS since it was brand new, and I haven't needed to use the cruise control very often until the last year, when I now need it every day (to avoid driving too much over the speed limit). I use it both going to work and coming home, and while it always works (so far) on the ride home, it sometimes doesn't work in the morning (it's in an attached garage overnight). I've been encountering this problem about 2 days a week. Yes, the on/off switch for the cruise is on, and there don't seem to be any other problems. I live in Spokane, WA, where the weather during this problem has been moderate, so I can't attribute it to that. When I try to use the cruise in the morning, the car has been running for about 5 minutes. Any ideas?
