Angry I need a tag for my true ss

I purchased a 2002 Monte Carlo SS in December of 2021. It was a rebuilt title from Alabama. I live in Georgia. I had no clue what rebuilt meant and when I went to tag office she said we don't do these here. I was confused. Anyways, my car passed every test but the air bag light is on. Georgia will not give me a title until I get it to go off. So, I had a great idea..take it to the GMC dealership. Well one of the 2 parts they tell me I need is no longer being made. He said I need a SDM module and a Sensing and Drag module. He said I needed to find the part elsewhere and that they could get it put on. I don't know what I need and dont know what part number it is. It is a 6 cylinder motor. I really need some help so I can at least get a tag for my car please.

I'd call them back and tell them to give you the part number. Clearly they know what it is if they know its discontinued. Even if they can't get it through official channels, it'll make your search exponentially easier poking around online trying to find one. Given the car isn't that old, you should be able to find someone with NOS online somewhere.

Certainly the junkyard is always an option if all else fails too.

One other thing to consider (although I haven't tried it personally, so make sure you read up reviews before selecting a company) is a SDM reset service like this:

supposedly they're able to flash it back to stock like an accident never occurred.

Okay I had something similar to this on my 06 Pontiac Torrent. I took it to a place that could read the sensor issues and it turned out it was a front impact sensor on it. Rock Auto had that I installed it myself and the light went out. So you might want to get an opinion from a 3rd party other garages can fix this issue beside the Dealerships. Also if you have a U-pull salvage yard near by it might be on one of the cars in there. Pull and replace is fairly cheap.

I agree with Bumpin, have them provide you the discontinued part numbers. Once you have those, you can do things like search eBay for them. Or other internet searches. I have landed a few deals with this site: www.car-part.com
