I'm down to 4 now. The Corvette will be going the way of the dinosaur soon.
I want to unload it while I can still get my money out of it.
Corvette values drop like rocks for a few years and I want to get as much as possible before I rack up anymore miles and or do any damage to reduce it more. It was a blast to own and I enjoy it but really I would rather get an older Vette that doesn't require having so much money invested in.

In one week I picked up 2 windshield chips that will only spread with the summer heat. Parts are ridiculous. They tell me the windshield will run about $1,100 to replace. Tires are 300.00 + each.

It is a fantastic car but impractical. Driving it is very stressful, it seems like there are constant challenges from other drivers.
As hard as it is to believe I enjoy driving the Monte much more.

Face it how often can you go 180+ MPH without it causing a problem.

I know what you mean, I got a chance to test drive the earlier body style Vette & the new GTO on a closed course and I had way more fun with the GTO. My Monte is way more comfortable to drive, BUT, I would give up my comfort to the power any day.

In any case, it's still a very nice car.

So what are the other two? I think I would settle for an older Vette myself as well.

Just remember "Ultimate power corrupts Ultimately"

There is no question that the power is nice, but it is easily abused. There is more satisfaction smoking someone at a light when they are suprized you whipped them, rather than them knowing you probably will.

I really would rather get a C4 Vette - 1984 -1990 as a car I can mod and enjoy as a hobby car. Having $50,000+ wrapped up in a car just seems to be too extravegent and wasteful. I can pick up a good condition used C4 for less than $10,000 and enjoy it every bit as much and ultimately worry less when I park it in the Home Depot parking lot.

I got the C6 back in October '04 when they first came out and it was really something special to drive. Now it seems there are a lot more of them around and it somehow seems less special. After 28,000 miles and lots of fun it I am ready to look for the older Vette.

The Monte is far more relaxing to drive and I feel that with a few carefully chosen mods it can get THE 3.9L close to 300HP up from the 242 HP stock. It has more than adequate power as it is. Stock it already has owned every V-6 '05 and '06 Mustang that has tried me. After I get the leather interior in it tomorrow I will be much happier with the interior.

My other 2 cars are a Black/Graphite 2 dr. 2000 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP and a Lunar Silver/Grey 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner TRD X-tended cab.

I almost took pix of the Monte and the GTP "W" body twins today in the driveway to post. Now I wish I had.

Here is a pic of the type of C4 I hope to get along with my car. This C4 belongs to my brother in Albequerque, NM. His is a '91.

Thanks to all for the posts. Compared to many forums this seems like it will be a great place to share my love of cars with others.
