Exclamation hi all

got my 2nd monte carlo ss bout a year ago. got the 2003 with 3.8. the guy was getting married and his wife told him he was a adult now and had to get rid of the toys.. its got 150k on it and still real strong. just started getting this wierd thing happening when i get gas. i have let the pump run till it shuts itself automatically, but when i did this about a month ago, i pulled nossel out and turned to hang it up, no sooner did i turn back around, gas was just pouring out from under the car. i looked up under and it looked like a waterfall. went home and attempted to lower the tank but its up in there good. i need to knopw if there is some kind of overflo on top of tank? i cant imagine there would be, but i have no clue how fuel would come out of the tank.. i fueled yesterday and i did not let it fill till it shut off, but i can still tell fuel is getting out. Please, if anybody knows whats going on??????? its dangerous. thank u

Oh that poor guy.... Anyway, welcome.

As for the gas leaking out, thats extremely dangerous like you said. Id stop driving it before you get stuck inside a car thats on fire. I can imagine some freak accident where it burns up some wires and youre unable to unlock the doors. Even more, what if that gas gets on someone else's car and sets it on fire. All it would take is the smallest metal on metal contact that causes a spark. I would look inside the fender and see if the fill tube is rusted thru.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did that. Alls good all the way into the tank. I just couldnt drop the tank to see where it was coming out of. The filler tube, all of it is in great shape. Im 2nd owner and rob had it parked inside the whole time he owned it. No rust anywhere. It was the deal of the day. But anyway, the only thing i can imagine on top of the tank is some sort of vent.????? Maybe

Welcome to the MCForum
The guys wife must be a stunner, or I wouldn't listen to her. LOL
There is a vent tube at the top of the fill location and maybe something has come loose or it has deteriorated from the fuel exposure.
you might be able to find the issue in a service manual they are available on ebay on a CD I have seen. Sometimes you can just use google and get some answers too.
