That's definitely cool! Do you know if GM lowered the car too? It doesn't look like it's at the typical stock ride height.

 

X2, I've always wondered that? They look slightly different than most Monte's in that sense.

Good eye mistreSS! Yes, Wheel to Wheel Powertain, the company that prepared these Montes for GM, lowered the cars by modifying the front and rear suspension components with special order parts from Ground Force (from what I was told back in 2008). I haven't measured exact ride height--need to do that.

Wheeh to Wheel used to be in your back yard in southeastern Michigan (Madison Heights). They did a ton of work like these Montes for GM, all of the special TAZ rides used at NASCAR races, Indy Monte pacers, numerous SEMA specialty builds, and nearly all (if not all) GM pace cars used at Indy from from the mid to late 90's until they went under in mid-2008.

I was fortunate enough to connect with the project manager there in charge of their pace car program on two occasions in early 2008 before the company suddenly shut its doors while researching the work they did on the SSR pace trucks. We talked about the Monte program a bit during the course of those phone calls as well.

 

Thanks Ricks! A buddy of mine would really like to locate either of the two 2006 MC SS pace cars sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2008. I was there and took pictures of them for him--the V8 Power (as I'm sure you're aware) is killer and what he's after..that along with the paint on each--really nice work that the pictures in the links below don't do justice, although neither have the integrated roof light bar. The cars sold (all in) for $38,500 and $41,800 respectively.
