Fifth Generation: Swap seats R & L?
Hello,
I am new to this forum but have enjoyed the information and relied on it in the past for help with my 99 Monte Carlo.
Obviously the left and right front seats are different and cannot be swapped. But I am wondering if the seats are actually identical seats on top of the L and R seat FRAMES. If I take out both my front seats and take them apart, can I then swap my worn drivers seat with the non-worn passengers seat on top of the different respective seat frames?
I love this 186k mile car and would like to drive it another 100k miles! I keep it garaged and it is immaculate. The only thing wrong with the car is a rip that is starting to spread in the driver's seat fabric.

This can be done. On both seats, the reels are the same. I had a lumina which has the same seats as these montes and I wanted to get the monte center console. I found a passenger seat from another lumina and used it as a drivers seat. It fit and worked. It should be the same for the monte carlo i would think.

If they're manual seats i would think it might not even matter about passenger/driver side. I could be wrong. But i do like your idea, only thing i can think of is the seat belt holder but thats an easy swap.

Manual seats have a manual adjustment lever on the left side for the driver seat and on the right side for the passenger seat.
I am going to try the swap on Tuesday when I am off work and I'll post here how it goes.
In the mean time if anyone has info about taking the seat apart (is it a bad idea? need special tools? etc) please let me know
