Default a few questions about the monte

Hey!

I purchased a 2004 Monte Carlo SS not to long ago. I love the car, I just decided to join your forum today since i have been poking around it for a while. I did have a few questions though.

I have the 3800 series 2 motor, and It has the SS badges on it, but I was just wondering, because i have seen it on other pictures and stuff, why their arent any monte carlo badges on the side of the car it appears that most of the SS's have some script that says Monte Carlo SS just behind the door on the bottom of the car. It is no big, i was just wondering if there anyone knew why that is.

Other question is regarding the thermostat. I need to replace it today, It seems like a quick easy fix. Any one have any tips or potential problems?

last question is regarding putting in a super charger, or just getting a few extra ponies. would it be difficult to bolt on a super-charger that comes stock with the SS supercharged edition? and are there many differences between the SS and the SS supercharged other than the charger?

Thanks to you all for your help and info.

Well, I can help you with the first questions. For some strange reason Chevrolet decided to leave off the Monte Carlo badges off the sides of the N/A SS in 04. I don't know if it had anything to do with the introduction of the Supercharged SS. In 05 they simplified the line up by giving each different trim line a different name: 3400 = LS, 3800 II = LT, rare 3800 II = LTZ and 3800 II S/C = SS.
There have been a ton of threads of supercharging the N/A 3800 II - try doing a search of Top Swap.

Supercharging your car is not as easy as you think, you will need everything from the heads up from an L67 (Series II Supercharged Engine) Yes if you search top-swap you will find everything, but it's not as easy as you are probably thinking.

Thermostat is very simple, just follow the upper radiator hose to the housing and unscrew it and put the new T-Stat in. Make sure you have a new gasket (I hate reusing them) and make sure you have a few towels around the area, because you will probably lose a few drops of coolant, then after the install, just make sure you run the car up to operating temperature and coolant starts to flow out the bleed screw. Piece of cake
