Exclamation Could Use A L'il Expertise...

Hiya Forum, First I just wanna thank everyone who greeted me when I joined. Now, although this is only my second post in like 2 or so months, I could really use some help possibly diagnosing a problem with either my Trac Control or ABS or both. During braking, alot of the time now, when coming to the end of a stop, I start to feel this "grind"...Kinda like gears slipping...(but of course I have no idea how these things work, so it could be anything) Thats just what it feels like. Then the 'Trac Off', 'ABS' lites, lite up, and the info says 'Service Traction Control'. Does anyone know what this problem is? Is this something someone who's somewhat mechanically inclined could fix on their own?

BTW... I'm still trying to figure out how to upload pics. I'm not havin' much luck. What a Momo...

Sounds to me like it could be a bad wheel bearing? It is something that you can do on your own, given the right tools? Changing a bad wheel bearing will turn all those messages off if it is the case, which it sounds like to me!

pics are gonna take a little while, you need to meet the forum requirements first!

You'll have to get the ABS code read on the issue. It will tell you what speed sensor is throwing the code on you.

Could be as simple as a loose plug that is vibrating wrong when you brake, or a speed sensor (in the hub assembly) like Chris is saying.

Yeah... I wish I had the comp. to let me know the 'code(s)'. I've often wondered how well those ones that are sold in Pep Boys, AutoZone...etc., for like a hundred bucks, actually work? Moneys REAL tight when living on disability. So I'm hoping, with a lil help from all you guys, I can find and fix this myself.
As far as the pics... I thought I was just doing something wrong. I forgot about requirements... Guess I'll have to read up on this...lol.
Real nice cars guys... And 3831... I love your wheels! What kind are they? They look alot like old school Mustang wheels or Cragers. They kinda look like rear wheel drive too. Awesome.

Those code readers only usually read CAN and OBDII codes, and not the ABS codes so you would be out of money and still not a clue.

Might have to hit the dealership and absorb the diagnostic fee, then possibly do the work yourself.

the wheels, hmmm, I just put a new set of wheels on my car so those are now only gonna be used for winter driving? Unless I can find someone that can get them back to looking like new again. They are Torque Thrust wheels usually found on mustangs. When I found that out I started not to like them anymore, but I have received a ton of compliments on them.

Here is a pic of my new wheels. Do the new ones look better?

I gotta say... I do like the other ones better myself. The new ones are real nice too... I just think your original ones look alot 'tougher'. I had no idea Mustang wheels would fit the same bolt pattern! I thought they were totally different... Learn somethin' new every day, huh?
So, I did check on how much it would cost to get codes diagnosed yesterday... a 100 bucks... D'Oh! Just to plug in a computer and tell me the problem. Until recently, I was able to just bring my cars to my brother-in-law and he would just fix it for the price of parts. So, I really had no idea how much more expensive it is now to have a car fixed. Or just checked even!
