Believe it or not, the frame sections on the old school montes are the same as there counter part trucks, just cut different, with different bracing, and side runners.....the 80's .......... TRANSMISSION....... if this trans is good, KEEP IT and run it, the 700 is not really made to take the abuse, and the 4l60e is not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be, all you need electronically is a TPS signal, kinda like the TV cable on your 700r, costs 100 bucks for the tps that bolts to any carb, and then you have an electronic trans, built for a 350, to pull, mind you, in a 3500lb car, DEFINATELY STRONGER BUILT....... and as for the motor, just as long as you get the right intake, or buy the spacers, you can bolt the carb on from the old setup, but the heads might be a little small for the bigger CID 350, unless that 305 was starving for gas......

Just so I understand....your mom got the vortec and you got the 350 out of the 95. If that is the case then yes the 350 carb intake and heads you have should work and bolt right up as long as the heads or intake is not vortec (or if they are both have to be one or the other) and you shouldn't have to do any or minor wiring on your Monte if you are going that route.

Now, next question, what did they do when they rebuild the engine? If they just rebuild it back to stock then check and see if the heads will give you more compression. On stock tbi engines they are only 8.5 to 1 compression and doing a head swap could increase the compression which would give you more hp. Also if the cam is stock, you might want to think about upgrading it since the engine would be out of the truck. The two "weak" points in the TBI engine is the heads and cam. After all it came from the factory with 210 hp and 295 torque. And depending on how much money you want to spend you can even upgrade it to roller. They sell retro fit cam, lifters, pushrods so you don't have to have your block machined anymore. Anyways I figured I would give you a weath of info to let you decide which is the best course of action for you. It should work by swapping the heads and intake over. But depending on what you want out of the engine...aka daily driver or more street/strip....if you want more street/strip then you might want to think about doing more to the engine since it would be out. If not and you don't ever think you want more out of the engine then pull it out of the truck, swap the parts over and put it in the Monte and hook everything up and get her running.

Anyways I hope this helps.
