Hi, I have owned the car since new and recently had to repair an evaporative emission problem. I repair problems myself, but I,m not completely familiar with computerized components, so I bought an OBDII code reader, retrieved the code and headed to the internet for a solution. After countless Google searches, I stumbled upon Monte Carlo Forum. I could not believe how knowledgeable and helpful the members of this forum are. There are posts that explain how things work, and what to look for when they don't. I was able to pinpoint the problem and fix it. For anyone experiencing this problem, check the vent solenoid. I replaced it, cleared the code and the car passed emissions. I was so impressed with the helpfulness of members, I decided to join myself, and hopefully help someone in return. Thanks to all of you who posted P0440 issues.
On a lighter note, my 02 is number 2364 of 3333. Anyone in the south Chicago area have an 02 Intimidator? Contact me, maybe we can meet at a cruise night or car show. Again, thanks for helping.
