Yet I can see the Dale Jr. boat is filling up just like it always does.

How many people look at or read my little history pictures? I think the one with the white #98 spinning out, the blue and white Petty car, and then the second shot of the pipes coming out of the rear of the #98 have a pretty interesting story if you don't check out the rest of it... pretty cool stuff in the NASCAR Historians opinion.

Some interesting tid bits... GM Products to Ford products winning this race... GM has won 23, Ford products: 21. GM includes Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Chevrolet, Ford products including Ford and Mercury. If you break this race down strictly, Ford vs. Chevrolet, Ford has 18 wins, Chevrolet 15. A Chevrolet did not win this race until 1985.... Dodge has not won this race since 1977 when Petty did it, and a Toyota only won once in 2008.....
I never did care for the 48 on the Super Speedways. He's won there at Daytona and Dega. It Feast or famine for the 48. Counting on famine for this race.

Here are some more classic NASCAR photos for today. Yesterday, we celebrated the spoils of victory, today, we celebrate the agony of defeat....

Buddy Baker blew his engine during the 1967 Daytona 500.

Mario Andrettis crashed '68 Torino in the Daytona 500 of the same year...

Tiny Lund's crash in the 1971 Daytona 500, driving a '68-9 Torino.

Fred Lorenzen had a hard crash during the 1964 Firecracker 400 qualifying race (similar to the Daytona 500 qualifying races, just for the July race as well), and the team did not bring a back up car. Lorenzen was injured in this crash but continued to race thaty ear.

And another shot of Cale Yarboroughs car after cutting a tire in the 1969 Daytona 500. His magical luck of '68 was gone for '69.

Carl Edwards has altered the Subway paint job a bit... I think this must be some sort of "Avocado Month" special since it has so much green on it... will that help break the curse of the Subway car? I do'nt think so.

But one of my picks is sitting out part of practice and the Nationwide race... Dennis Hamlin is nursing that bad back again.

Looks like Ambrose and Almirola Got the hookup...at least for practice...

Denny Hamlin side lined back injury...

Lots of "non" driveing going on this last practice....

Even regan smith (78)6th quick... looked good in practice...runing with the 24...(Which sayn much) Considering the 24's been running like poop...

Jamie Mac 1st this practice so far...Jr practice 9th quick...

Looked like most drivers were just making a few laps to get a good qualifying spot, way the rules are & hpw the cars handle not much you can really do in practice

As messed up as it is, Denny Hamlin just let Kyle Busch run 3 laps in his car and taht was it... made sure everything was right and the thermostat opened up I guess.....

But what does it say about the track when a driver has the confidence to sit out practice and let his first laps be qualifying and then the race.... that's bravery!

So many drivers were saying "Yeap, that's enough laps, we know what we've got, we're done" for 2nd practice. A pack went out for a few laps in 2nd practice and then stopped.... the broadcast booth was digging for stuff to talk about for the 90 minutes. I'ts stupid. I guess we're just all in it for the race......

I've won tons of races on the video game without turning a single lap of practice though....
